Achieva are looking for a Chief Commercial Officer to join one of the leading Beverage Bottling companies in the world! As Chief Commercial Officer you will be leading and shaping the organisations sale and marketing strategies.

As Chief Commercial Officer you will be reporting into the Chief Operating Officer. The Chief Commercial Officer will be developing and implementing the sales and marketing strategies to deliver the corporate business objectives set in the annual business plan.


Duties and responsibilities of the Chief Commercial Officer:


  • Stay ahead of market changes and have a thorough understanding of the competitor landscape, to identify potential threats and opportunities. Identify new business opportunities through analysing market trends and the competitor landscape.
  • Monitor sales metrics, key performance indicators (KPI’s) and market shares to track effectiveness of sales and marketing efforts, to ensure data driven insights and decision making.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure alignment and effective execution of the company’s commercial objectives.
  • Build the commercial team capability and implement a performance driven culture.
  • Implement effective sales strategies that align with the overall business objectives. This involves analysing market industry trends, competitor activities and customer behaviour to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Manage and lead sales teams to achieve their targets and objectives.
  • Implement a high-performance culture, providing guidance and support and implementing effective sales training programs
  • Lead the GTM strategy and projects with Smollan to deliver critical projects as per the deadlines set.
  • Improve digitization and reporting within sales and merchandising.
  • Manage the annual/ monthly budget.
  • Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities. This involves conducting market research, staying up to date on industry trends. Identify emerging trends, customer needs and untapped market segments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships and networks with key customers and within the industry. Foster loyalty and trust with key customers, leading to long-term partnerships.
  • Instil a culture of “insights led decision making” across the business. It is crucial to have a deep understanding of the data and insights that drive sales and marketing performance.
  • Keep up to date on Industry growth rates, consumer preferences and emerging technologies, to capitalize on new opportunities and anticipate potential challenges in advance.
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies to maximise profitability.
  • Explore and evaluate new business opportunities for revenue growth.
  • Work closely with the regions and supply chain team for sales forecasting, optimal inventory levels, production planning and Innovation projects.
  • Lead the ABP process, in conjunction with the finance team.
  • Assist all GM’s in developing Regional Annual Business Plans


Requirements for the Chief Commercial Officer:

  • 15-20 years of work experience in Sales, Marketing & Distribution with at least 5 years at a senior management/ director level, in a multi-national (preferably a beverage company or other FMCG industry).
  • Effective communication and presentation are crucial to this role. When presenting reports and recommendations, it is important to distil complex data into concise and easily understandable insights

Chief Commercial Officer job details:

Location: Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania)

Salary: Competitive Salary – Dependent on experience
